Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-110)
(MLB) Arizona vs. Atlanta,
Point Spread: -1.50 | -110.00 Atlanta (Home)
Result: Loss
Atlanta took the first two games of this series, rolling to a 5-2 win on Friday night and following up with a 6-2 triumph Saturday night in the middle game of the set. Kyle Wright and Ian Anderson combined to allow just two runs over 12.2 innings of work while fanning 14 hitters to help the Braves earn wins in the first two games. Now, Atlanta sends Max Fried to the hill in the finale of the set looking to shut things down and give the Braves a sweep. Fried has been rolling the last couple of months. After dropping his first two starts of the year, Fried is 10-1 with a 2.44 ERA, a 1.067 WHIP, 21 walks and 108 strikeouts over 114.1 innings in his last 18 starts. While Arizona counters with Merrill Kelly, who has picked up 10 wins pitching for a last-place team, the fact remains that the Braves were fourth in the league in runs per game going into Saturday night while Arizona was tied for 19th in that category. Throw in that the Braves were fifth in runs per game at home with their ace on the hill and Kelly can only keep it close. Atlanta is the better team and that carries them to the sweep.
