The Phillies have been on a roll, feasting on mediocre or worse pitching in recent games. They piled up a truckload of runs against the Nationals in a four-game sweep over the weekend and did enough to get past Braxton Garrett by a 4-1 score on Tuesday night in the opener of this series. With that said, as good as Garrett has been of late for the Marlins, it's a much stiffer challenge for the surging Phils in this one as they face the likely frontrunner for the NL Cy Young in Sandy Alcantara. He comes in 10-4 with a 1.88 ERA, a 0.935 WHIP, 40 walks and 141 strikeouts over 158.1 innings of work. For good measure, he has a league-high three complete games and a shutout, with that coming in his last start against the Reds. Philadelphia has had three cracks at Alcantara this season and they haven't done a ton of damage against him. He's 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA, a 0.946 WHIP, six walks and 22 strikeouts over 22 innings, giving up two runs in each outing. Noah Syndergaard struggled against Washington in his debut with the Phillies and his issues holding runners on is well known. Miami has some guys with wheels so look for them to run into scoring position and capitalize offensively, while Alcantara slams the door on the Phillies' six-game win streak.
