He is 4-0 with a 1.76 ERA, a 0.815 WHIP, four walks and 28 strikeouts over 30.2 innings in five starts. That includes a complete game, one-hit shutout of the Cubs on August 22 in a 1-0 game at Wrigley Field. St. Louis has looked excellent over the past couple of months, taking over the top spot in the NL Central. The Cardinals were 22-7 in the month of August with a +57 run differential. Adrian Sampson has struggled this season and was tagged for five runs on eight hits over 3.1 innings in a 13-3 Cubs loss on August 23 in that same series. The Cardinals have been excellent at home and Montgomery does the job to carry them to a victory in this one.
