The Giants come in off a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Brewers Thursday while the Cubs fell to the Reds at home. In this one, runs could be at a premium with a pair of strong pitchers on the mound. With that said, the Giants send their ace to the hill in Carlos Rodon, who has been terrific this season, posting a 12-7 record with a 2.92 ERA, a 1.061 WHIP, 47 walks and 201 strikeouts over 157 innings on the year. He's been on fire since the end of July, going 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA, eight walks and 53 strikeouts over 41.1 innings in his last seven starts. Drew Smyly was terrific in August for the Cubs, going 3-2 with a 0.90 ERA, six walks and 25 strikeouts over 30 innings in five starts, but was roughed up for seven runs over 2.1 innings in his first start in September, an 8-4 loss to the Cardinals. The Cubs have had their issues against left-handed pitching this season and trying to hit Rodon is going to be a challenge. Take the Giants in this one as they bounce back from the tough doubleheader sweep Thursday.
