When you talk about a guy that has been white-hot of late, Spencer Strider fits the bill. He comes into this one for Atlanta 9-2 with a 2.66 ERA, a 0.932 WHIP, 23 walks and 134 strikeouts over 88 innings over 16 starts since June 10. His FIP in that stretch is a staggering 1.70, making things difficult for opposing hitters. In his last seven starts dating to August 2, the numbers are even better as Strider is 5-1 with a 2.23 ERA, a 0.893 WHIP, 10 walks and 63 starts over 40.1 innings of work. One can argue that Strider, despite his sparkling numbers, has been the victim of misfortune in that stretch as his FIP in that run is a miniscule 1.14 as he completely shuts down lineups. The Giants have had their issues putting runs on the board of late and had problems scoring against a patchwork Cubs pitching staff over the weekend. Having to fly home after Sunday Night Baseball will take a toll on the hosts. Throw in that the Giants' bullpen is a bit fatigued and Atlanta should take advantage of things to put this one in the win column.
