The Rangers are hoping to take the next step after falling in the conference finals to Tampa Bay last season. This is a matchup of two teams with excellent goaltenders with Andrei Vasilevskiy (3-4-2, 2.63 GAA, .913 save % in nine regular season starts vs. NYR) doing battle with the reigning Vezina Trophy winner in Igor Shesterkin (3-0-0, 1.30 GAA, .958 save %, SO in three regular season starts vs.TBL) in this one. With two elite goaltenders and skaters trying to knock the rust off in the regular season opener, this one winds up falling short of the total.
