One thing we know is that the Yankees’ offense has been back of late. After losing Tuesday to the Pirates, the Yankees’ bats have been back with a vengeance, racking up 34 runs over the past three games entering Saturday. Jameson Taillon struggled against his former team in his last start, taking his first loss since his first start of the season back on April 11. He’s pitched well in his career against Boston, going 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA, a 1.135 WHIP, nine walks and 16 strikeouts over 24.2 innings of work against them. Nick Pivetta was rolling with an 8-1 mark over 10 starts from May 13 through June 29 but was waffled by Tampa Bay in his last outing as he gave up seven runs on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 5.2 innings. In addition, he is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA, a 1.296 WHIP, six walks and 14 strikeouts over 14.2 innings in four career appearances, three starts, against the Yankees. New York has won four of the first five meetings this season entering Saturday, averaging 6.2 runs per game in those contests. Look for the Yankees to get the upper hand again here to earn the win.
