We like New Jersey here. The Devils' offense was great last year (3.22 GPG), and in the offseason they acquired Jake Allen and Jacob Markstrom in net, as well as beefing up the defense by getting Brenden Dillon, Johnathan Kovacevic, and Brett Pesce.
Lindy Ruff used to coach the Devils, and now he's the new coach of the Sabres, who scored just 2.98 GPG last year. The defense conceded 2.96. The Sabres didn't make many major changes, other than head coach, in the off-season.
Despite the Sabres having been in Prague for a bit, we still think that New Jersey's offensive depth, and its improved defense will figure it out here in the Opener.
