DePaul and Providence open their Big East seasons in Chicago. The Providence Friars are 6-4 overall and 4-6 ATS. The Depaul Blue Demon are 7-1 overall and 5-3 ATS. Depaul dropped their first game of the season last time out. Providence started the season winning their first five games. Providence is putting up 70.6 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field and 34.2% from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, they are giving up 63.8 points per game. De[aul opened the season with seven straight wins, albeit against week competition. When finally tested, they failed against Texas Tech. Depaul is putting up 84.8 points per game, and shooting 49.4% from the field and 39.8% from deep. On the defensive end, they are giving up 65.8 points. These teams met twice last season, with the Friars winning both games but splitting against the number. They won those games by an average of 23.5 points per game. Depaul has a nice record but has not played the stiffest of competition. Providence has played the tougher schedule and is better tested. This is a major jump in competition and they looked out of sorts against Texas Tech. The Friars have lost four of their last five games, but have played a tougher schedule. The Friars ranked 25th in scoring defense. I am taking the Friars in this one.
