(MLB) Boston vs. Seattle,
Money Line: -135.00 Seattle (Home)
Result: Win
The Red Sox are coming into this game losing their last 2 straight and after being so hot coming out of the break, they are finally starting to cool off now. They have lost their last 2 straight games and their offense has also been cooling off in those as they have not scored more than 3 runs in a game in their last 3 straight. They are going up against a Mariners team that has been playing very well recently as they are starting to heat up now and have won 4 of their last 5 games. Their pitching has been very good in those as they have allowed just 2 runs or less in 2 of their last 3 games and their offense has also been heating up a lot as they have been averaging close to 6 runs scored per game in their last 5 games. George Kirby is starting for the Mariners here and he is 9-8 with a 3.49 ERA this season. He has not been great in his last 3 starts as he has allowed at least 5 earned runs in 2 of those, but he will be hungry to bounce back here with a much better performance since he has been a much better starter at home this season. He allowed no runs in 7 innings of his last start at home and has also allowed just 2 earned runs or less in 4 of his last 5 home starts. He also pitched against the Red Sox in Boston earlier this season and allowed just 1 earned run in close to 7 innings pitched. The Red Sox have had a very good offense this season but they have not been scoring as many runs recently as the team is cooling off and Kirby will be able to bounce back here at home with a much better start. Nick Pivetta is starting for the Red Sox here and he is 7-5 with a 4.11 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well in his recent appearances but a lot of that has to do with him pitching out of the bullpen as a reliever. He was a starter at the beginning of the season but was allowing so many runs in his starts that he needed to be moved to the bullpen where he has been much better. He has allowed at least 3 earned runs in each of his last 6 straight starts though and has allowed at least 4 earned runs in 3 of his last 4. He also made his last start this season at home back in May and it was against the Red Sox in a game where he allowed 4 earned runs. Now that he is back starting again, he is going to continue his struggles as the Mariners offense will get to him for some runs here at home. The Mariners have also had a much better pitching staff than the Red Sox all year and their lineup is the hotter offense right now. The Mariners will win this game at home.
