The Giants are coming into this game playing well recently but they just lost their last 2 straight games against the Athletics over the weekend and have been losing some steam now. They are going up against an Angels team that has been awful recently as they have lost their last 6 straight games and were just swept in 4 games by the Mariners. The Angels are back under .500 now but they are going to be desparate to stop the bleeding here as they need to win this game and back on a roll if they want to be in the playoff conversation this season. That series against the Mariners hurt them a lot but they are going to be hungry to bounce back here at home and they still have one of the better offenses in the league to do so. Logan Webb is starting for the Giants here and he is 9-9 with a 3.45 ERA this season. He has not been pitching that well in his recent starts as he has been consistently allowing at least 2 earned runs or more in each of his last 4 starts as well as 10 of his last 11 starts. He has also been allowing a lot more runs on the road as he has allowed at least 5 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 road starts. The Angels have not been scoring a lot of runs recently but they still have a very good offense and they will find ways to score runs here at home with the way Webb has been pitching on the road recently. Patrick Sandoval is starting for the Angels here and he is 6-8 with a 4.11 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well in his recent starts as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 4 starts and has also faced some very good offenses in that span like the Braves in his last start. The Giants offense has not been great all season and they have not been scoring a lot of runs recently either as they have scored 4 runs or less in 8 of their last 9 games. Sandoval will be able to shut down the Giants lineup while the Angels offense gets the spark they need in this game. The Angels will win this game at home and bounce back.
