AMEDEUS' MLB DIAMOND DINGER!
(MLB) Miami vs. Cincinnati,
Money Line: -122.00 Cincinnati (Home)
Result: Loss
The Marlins are coming into this game off of a 3-2 win against the Reds in their last game but they have not been playing well recently as they have lost 5 of their last 6 games. They are going up against a Reds team that has not been playing well recently either as they have lost 7 of their last 8 games but they will be hungry to bounce back here at home, especially since they are only 1.5 games out of 1st place in the NL Central. Johnny Cueto is starting for the Marlins here and he is 0-3 with a 5.32 ERA this season. Cueto has only made 5 starts this season but has not been good in most of them as he has allowed at least 4 earned runs in 3 of his 5 starts, including his last 2 straight. He has not faced many strong offenses in that span either as he allowed 4 runs against the Tigers and the Twins this season who do not have good offenses while the Reds actually have a top 10 offense in the league right now. Graham Ashcraft is starting for the Reds here and he is 6-7 with a 5.18 ERA this season. He allowed 3 earned runs in his last start but he has actually been pitching very well recently as he has not allowed more than that in any of his last 7 straight starts and has even allowed just 1 earned run or less in 4 of those starts. He has also faced some good offenses in that span as he has a 6 inning shutout performance against the Dodgers in his last road starts and he will pitch much better here at home against this much weaker Marlins offense that has not been scoring a lot of runs recently either. The Reds will win this game at home and take the series.
