New Mexico State is coming into this game with a 5-3 record this season but they have really been surging since starting their conference games as they are 3-1 in those. They are gaining confidence with each win as they have won their last 3 straight games, all 3 wins coming by double digits, and this is a huge game for them as a win here will make them bowl eligible for the 2nd straight season under Jerry Kill so they are going to be motivated in this game. They are going up against a LA Tech team that is 3-5 this season and they have not been playing well recently as they have lost their last 2 straight as well as 4 of their last 5 games. LA Tech has also had a big question mark at QB all season as they started with Hank Bachmeier and benched him for Jack Turner in their last 3 conference games but then Bachmeier was thrown back in the game in their last game to try and mount a comeback against MTSU. Bachmeier will likely be the starter here but he does not have a lot of talent and has not played well as he has been at risk of losing his job all season. New Mexico State has a much better offense with Pavia running the show as they average around 30 points scored per game while LA Tech only averages around 27. The New Mexico State defense has also been much better as they allow around 21 points per game while LA Tech averages around 28 points allowed per game and they also match up very well here as New Mexico State has a very good running game while LA Tech struggles to stop the run as it is their biggest weakness on defense and New Mexico State will be able to exploit that to win this game.
