New Mexico is coming into this game with a 1-0 record this season as they won their game against Texas Southern by close to 40 points, winning 92-55. New Mexico played great in that game and they are coming off of a good season where they finished 22-10 overall, but a lot of those wins also came against weaker teams in their non-conference games as they struggled more in their own conference against tougher teams, going just 8-10 in the MWC last year. They are also missing a lot of their production from last season as they are returning less than 45% of their minutes played as well as less than 52% of their scoring from last year. They are going up against a Saint Mary's team that is also off to a 1-0 start this season as they are coming off of a big win against Stan State in their 1st game, winning that game 107-28. Saint Mary's is also ranked in the top 25 to start the season and they are usually a ranked team over the last few years as they have been a very dominant basketball program. They also have a lot more of their starters returning as they are returning over 65% of their minutes played as well as over 72% of their scoring from last season. Saint Mary's opened up last season in a very similar way with big wins at home by double digits in their non-conference games and considering how they are the better program with more production returning from last season as well, expect another big performance out of them like they had in their 1st game of the season.
