Michigan State is coming into this game with a 19-14 record this season and they were 10-10 in their conference. They have not been playing well in their recent games as they fizzled out of the Big 10 Tournament in the 2nd round against Purdue and they have lost 2 of their last 3 as well as 5 of their last 7 games. They put up a good fight against Purdue in their last game but they have not been a great team this season as they have come up short in a lot of their bigger games. Their offense has also been struggling in their recent games as they have scored 64 points or less in 3 of their last 4 as well as 4 of their last 6 games. They are going up against a Mississippi State team that is 21-13 this season and was 8-10 in their conference. Mississippi State started the season playing very well before starting to struggle against SEC opponents as they finished the regular season losing 4 straight games. They started to get hot again in the SEC Tournament though as they have won 2 of their last 3 games now. They beat LSU by 10 points in their 1st round played and they followed that up with a dominant win over Tennessee by close to 20 points. They are coming off of a 7 point loss against Auburn in their last game, Auburn going on to win the SEC Tournament, but they put up a very good fight in that game and gave Auburn a lot of trouble. Mississippi State has had a much better offense in their recent games as well, scoring 70+ points in 3 of their last 4 games as well as scoring 66+ points in each of their last 5 straight. Their defense has also been much better as they allowed 60 points or less in 2 of their 3 games in the SEC Tournament and they are going to bring that same defensive intensity here in the NCAA Tournament.
