VCU is coming into this game with a 23-13 record this season and they were 11-7 in their conference. They are coming off of a 9 point win on the road against Villanova in their last game and they have been playing well recently as they have won 4 of their last 5 games. VCU was one of the better teams in their conference this season but they were not as good in their non-conference games. They went 8-5 in their non-conference games this season and 9-5 including their win over Villanova in their last game, but that game was also their only road game against a non-conference opponent all season. That was a game that Villanova was not fully focused in either as their were set on being in the NCAA Tournament instead. They are going up against a South Florida team that is 25-7 this season and they were 16-2 in their conference. They were the best team in their conference all season and despite getting eliminated from their conference tournament in the semi finals, the same round FAU lost in, they were still snubbed of the at large bid for the NCAA Tournament as it went to FAU who lost in the 1st round anyway. South Florida has received no respect all season and they have been playing with a massive chip on their shoulder as this is a much improved team under their 1st year head coach. South Florida is going to get up for this game at home where there will be a great atmosphere to play in as they are motivated to win this tournament and show everyone that they truly were the best in the conference this year and deserved to be in the NCAA Tournament. VCU will not be able to keep up with South Florida at home and South Florida also has the talent beyond the arc to make this game get away from VCU quickly.
