The Yankees are coming into this game with a 4-0 record this season and they are already off to a very hot start after spending so much money in the offseason to improve. Their offense has been very good as they have scored 4+ runs in all 4 of their games that they swept the Astros in and their pitching has been good as well, allowing 3 runs or less in each of their last 3 games. They are going to have a lot of confidence after sweeping the Astros in their 1st series and they will be hungry to keep pushing here with their undefeated start as they play in a very tough division and have a lot of expectations of themselves this season. Luis Gil is starting for the Yankees here and he did not pitch at all last season nor does he have much experience in the league from his other 2 seasons playing, but he has pitched well in Spring Training this year. He was 2-0 with a 2.87 ERA as he allowed just 5 earned runs in a little under 16 innings pitched. They are going up against a Diamondbacks team that is 3-1 to start the season and has been scoring a lot of runs in their games while not giving up many, but they also opened the season with the Rockies who are projected to be one of the worst teams in the MLB this season, and they even lost 1 of those games at home while the Yankees opened the season on the road in Houston and swept the Astros in 4 games when the Astros were the favorite to win the AL coming into the season. Ryne Nelson is also starting for the Diamondbacks in this game and he has pitched well in Spring Training this year as he was 4-0 with a 2.66 ERA, but he was not that good in his starts last season and he was actually much worse at home as well. Last season, he finished the regular season giving up at least 5 earned runs in 4 of his last 6 home starts and now he has to face a much stronger lineup in the Yankees that is looking to get out to a hot start after the way they finished in the division last year.
