The Orioles are coming into this game with a 6-4 record this season and they are coming off of a 7-1 win against the Red Sox in what was Boston's home opener. The Orioles played great in that game but they have still lost 2 of their last 3 games as their offense has been inconsistent recently. Defense was a big issue for them in that loss but they will be hungry to bounce back and have a much better pitching matchup here to help give their offense a spark as well. Cole Irvin is starting for the Orioles in this game and he is 0-1 with a 7.24 ERA this season. He has only made 1 start this season but he was awful in it as he allowed 4 earned runs in 5 innings pitched against the Royals. He also struggled in Spring Training as he allowed 12 earned runs in a little over 17 innings pitched. The Red Sox offense will be looking to get after him here and Irvin did pitch well in his last 2 starts against the Red Sox, but he never made it out of the 3rd inning in either start and the only time he saw the Red Sox for an extended period last season was right at the beginning of the season as he allowed 6 earned runs in 4 innings pitched at Fenway. Kutter Crawford is starting for the Red Sox here and he is 0-0 with a 0.84 ERA this season, but he has also been improving as a starter a lot over the last 3 years, now in his 4th MLB season. He has been very good to start the season as well since he allowed no earned runs in 6 innings against the Mariners in his 1st start and followed it up with just 1 earned run in a little under 5 innings against the Angels in his last start. The Red Sox have the better pitching matchup here with Crawford on the mound and they will be pushing to win their 1st game at home after losing the home opener yesterday. The Red Sox will win this game at home and get their 1st home win of the season.
