The Angels are coming into this game with an 8-8 record this season and they are coming off of a 7-3 win against the Rays in the series opener. The Angels have not been great in their recent games though as they have still lost 2 of their last 3 as well as 4 of their last 6 games, losing a series at home to the Rays just last week as well. They are going up against a Rays team that is 9-8 this season and they are going to be hungry to bounce back from that loss to the Angels to open up this series as the Rays have still won 4 of their last 6 games. José Soriano is starting for the Angels in this game and he is 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA this season. He has made 3 starts this season and has actually been getting worse in each start. He opened the season by allowing no earned runs in 3 innings against the Orioles, but he followed that up with a start which he allowed 3 earned runs in 3 innings pitched against the Red Sox. Now he is coming off of a start in his last game which he allowed 4 earned runs in 4 innings pitched, and that start was at home against the Rays last week. José Soriano already gave up 4 runs in his last start to this Rays offense and he is only in his 2nd MLB season as well. He does not have much experience as a starter either as he spent most of last season in the bullpen as a reliever, but the Rays have already gotten to him this year and they will do so again here at home. Aaron Civale is starting for the Rays here and he has been solid this season as he is 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA. He pitched 6 innings in each of his first 2 starts of the season and only allowed 1 earned run in each start, now he is coming off of a start against the Angels in his last game which he only allowed 2 earned runs in 5 innings. He has been more consistent as a starter this season and already had a good outing against the Angels last week, this will be a similar game which the Angels struggle to score runs in while the Rays lean on their offense with this pitching matchup.
