Louisville is coming into this game with a 1-0 record this season after beating Austin Peay 62-0 in their 1st game of the season. Austin Peay is only from the FCS so they were not going to put up much of a fight, but Louisville played very well for a team that was just getting tuned up in their season opener. They will be at home again here and they are going to be hungry to improve after a great 10-4 season last year which Jeff Brohm took this team to the ACC Championship in his 1st season coaching. The offense was very balanced in their 1st game as they racked up close to 300 yards rushing and close to 300 yards passing as well. Their defense was also fantastic, allowing 34 rushing yards total and 72 passing yards total. They were averaging 10.5 yards per carry on the ground as well and that is going to be trouble for this Jacksonville State defense that got shredded at home in their 1st game of the season. They are going up against a JSU team that is 0-1 after a brutal 55-27 loss at home to Coastal Carolina. Coastal Carolina was going through some major changes as well, including the loss of their 4 year quarterback, but they still demolished Jacksonville State on the ground and in the air. They allowed over 250 passing yards against them and gave up close to 300 yards rushing, allowing 5.2 yards per carry as well. Their offense was not great either, only rushing for 123 yards which is supposed to be their strength. They were not able to run the ball as the game got away from them and when they had to resort to passing, their quarterbacks only completed 51.9% of their passes. They scored 27 points, but 17 of those came in the 4th quarter when the game was already over as they also allowed at least 10 points per quarter. The same thing will happen in this game as Jacksonville State is going to struggle even more trying to run the ball on the road against a much better defense, and once they abandon the run game their offense will flop with the passing game and there will not be a way back in for them. Louisville is going to cover the spread in this game.
