Louisville is coming into this game with a 3-0 record this season and their offense has been humming this season. They have scored 30+ points in all 3 of their games and they have been very balanced. They are averaging 194.3 rushing yards per game, 6.4 yards per carry, and they are also averaging 308 passing yards per game with Shough completing 68.4% of his passes and averaging 11.2 yards per attempt. They are going up against a Notre Dame team that is 3-1 this season and they are coming off of 2 straight wins by 20+ points, but they also have a questionable loss at home to Northern Illinois 16-14. Notre Dame has a very good defense and they are known for that, but their defense has holes that can be exploited by Louisville. Northern Illinois beat them with a good run game and a great defense, both being areas that Louisville is good in. Notre Dame has a very good pass defense that will be tough to throw on, but they are more vulnerable in the run game and Louisville has the rushing attack to attack them. As Notre Dame struggles to stop them on the ground, it will open up the pass game for them and they have a very accurate quarterback to make them pay. Notre Dame has a very good run game themselves as that is their strength on offense, but that is also Louisville's strength on defense, averaging just 87.3 rushing yards per game and 2.5 yards per carry. Their pass defense is still good as well, averaging 181.3 passing yards allowed per game, and Notre Dame does not have a great passing game with Leonard Riley as they only average 173.8 passing yards per game and less than 30 passing attempts per game. Notre Dame will want to keep this game on the ground but Louisville will be tough to beat in that area and Notre Dame does not have the passing game to win if they get shut down in the run game. Louisville also has different ways to attack this defense and they can win this game straight up, just like they did last season. Louisville will cover the spread in this game.
