New Mexico State is coming into this game with a 2-5 record this season and they are 1-3 in the conference. They are coming off of their 1st win in the conference in their last game, beating LA Tech at home in OT 33-30, but they have also been much worse on the road this season. They have lost both of their road games in the conference and they have also lost all 3 of their road games this season by 20+ points in each. Their offense has been awful in these as well, scoring 13 points or less in all 3 road games this season. Their defense has also been awful in these games as they have allowed 31+ points in all 3 road games as well. They are going up against an FIU team that is 2-6 this season and is 1-3 in the conference. They have lost their last 3 straight games, but they have played some close games in those and they are going to be hungry to bounce back with a win at home. They are coming off of a 10-7 loss at home to Sam Houston in their last game and they have lost 2 of their last 3 games by 7 points or less, losing all 3 of those games by 9 points or less as well. They also lost 2 of those games on the road while their only home game in that span was the closest loss, 10-7 to Sam Houston. They actually did beat LA Tech 17-10 at home in their game prior to that Sam Houston loss and they have been much better at home this season as they have won 2 of their 3 games against FBS opponents there. Their defense has also been much better at home as they have allowed 10 points or less in their last 2 games there, and this is not a New Mexico State team that has been scoring a lot on the road this year. New Mexico State also has an awful defense so FIU is going to move the ball well at home while their defense gets the stops on this weaker NMSU offense. FIU will cover the spread in this game.
