Result: Win
UCLA is coming into this game with a 3-5 record this season and they are 2-4 in the conference. They had a very rough start to their season as they beat Hawaii in their 1st game of the season and then lost 5 straight games, but they also had a very strong schedule in that span. After beating Hawaii they lost 4 straight games against Indiana, LSU, Oregon, and Penn State who are all very strong teams ranked in the top 15 of the country. They have played much better in their last 3 games though as their last loss was a close 4 point loss at home to Minnesota, and now they have won their last 2 straight games. They beat Rutgers on the road 35-32 and they also beat Nebraska on the road 27-20 in their last game. They are going up against an Iowa team that is 6-3 this season and is 4-2 in the conference. They have been playing very well recently as they have won their last 2 straight as well as 3 of their last 4 games, but all 3 of those wins have come at home as well. Their only loss in that span was on the road against Michigan State and they have actually lost their last 2 road games as well. This is also going to be their 1st time this season traveling to the other side of the country and that is going to take a toll on them. Iowa has a very strong run game that is averaging 222.3 rushing yards per game and 5.8 yards per carry so they are going to keep this game on the ground, especially since they do not have a strong passing game, averaging just 133.8 passing yards per game. UCLA has a very good run defense though that is only allowing 100.4 rushing yards per game and 3.3 yards per carry so they are going to be able to slow down this Iowa offense on the ground and give themselves a chance to win this game at home. Iowa has had a good defense this season, but it has not been that same defense that was carrying the team for so many years. They have not been as good on the road either as they allowed 32 points in their last road game to Michigan State who is not a strong offensive team, and they have allowed 30+ points in each of their last 2 road games as well. UCLA will cover the spread in this game.
