Eastern Washington is coming into this game with a 1-4 record this season and they have taken a big step back from last season as they are under a new head coach this year. The team is still trying to find their rhythm with all of the new players, but they have also had a very tough schedule to start the season. They lost their 1st road game of the season to Colorado by 20 points, but they were much better in their last road game as they were able to hang in there and only lost by 7 points to Missouri. They have played much better at home this season as they have a 17 point win over Seattle there and they also lost a much closer game to Cal Poly by 4 points. They are coming off of a loss in their last game in a neutral location, losing by 15 points, but that was also against a much stronger Washington State team that has been hot to start the season so Eastern Washington is going to be hungry to bounce back here against a much weaker opponent they can stay in the game against. They are going up against a California Baptist team that is 3-2 this season. They returned their top scorer from last season, but they also have a lot of new players this season as well. They started the season hot with 2 straight wins at home, beating Incarnate Word and Kennesaw State, but both of those wins were by 5 points or less. They have not been playing as well recently either, losing 2 of their last 3 games, and they are coming off of an 11 point loss at home to Northern Colorado in their last game. Their only other loss came against UC Riverside by 1 point at home, and their only win in that span was a 13 point win over LIU who is not a quality team and had a tough travel for that game. California Baptist has not been good on defense this season as they have allowed 70+ points in all 5 of their games as well as allowing 77+ points in 4 of their 5 games. Eastern Washington has been scoring points this season as they have scored 77+ points in each of their last 4 games so California Baptist is always going to leave the door open for them if they do fall behind, but Eastern Washington will be able to hang in this game.
