The Bears are coming into this game with a 4-7 record this season and they have not been playing well in recent games as they have fallen right to the bottom of the NFC North after a good start to the season. They have lost their last 5 straight games and their offense has been awful in these as they have scored under 20 points in 4 of their last 5 games and under 10 points in 2 of their last 4 games as well. They have played better in their last 2 games against division opponents, losing 20-19 to the Packers and 30-27 in OT against the Vikings in their last game, but both of those games were also at home where they have played much better all season. Their Bears have been much worse on the road, losing all 4 of their road games this season, and their offense has not scored more than 16 points in any of those games either. They are going up against a Lions team that is 10-1 this season and they have been playing great all year. Their only loss came at home against the Buccaneers in week 2, but they have won their last 9 straight games and have won 4 of their last 5 by 10+ points. Their offense has been on fire as they have scored 24+ points in 8 straight games and also have 3 games in that span which they scored 47+ points. Their defense has also been very good though as they have held opponents to just 6 points in each of their last 2 games and to 14 points or less in 4 of their last 5 games. The Bears defense was one of the better defenses in the league to start the season, but they have fallen off a cliff over the last month, not able to stop the run in a lot of their games. The Lions have a very good run game that is going to wear down this Bears defense throughout the game and that will open up the passing game for Goff who has been extremely accurate with his throws in recent weeks. Caleb Williams has been very inconsistent this season and has been completely different at home vs on the road. The Bears will not have an answer for this Lions offense and they are going to struggle on a short week in this early game. The Lions will cover the spread in this game.
