This game is historically low scoring and close so Iowa getting this game at home this year could be huge.
Iowa State's strengths defensively are in pass rush and in the secondary. Two things that Iowa wouldn't need to worry about if things go to plan. ISU lost starting LB Caleb Bacon to injury last week creating a pretty weak LB unit overall for the Cyclones who were already missing Carson Willich and Will Mclaughlin. Iowa State is coming off a week giving up 175 on the ground to North Dakota.
Offensively, ISU star RB Abu Sama was banged up in week 1, but is expected to play, but at what %. Overall their rushing attack was uninspiring with under 100 yards and 3.9 YPC. Not being able to get that going and becoming one dimensional is worst case scenario against an Iowa defense.
