South Carolina has just a 2-14 SEC record but they’ve won 2 of their last 3 and have been solid at home all season. There is a reason the 2 win SEC team is favored here. Their last 2 home games they rolled Arkansas 72-53 and Texas 84-69. This spot is very similar to Saturday when the Razorbacks came into Columbia in a must win spot as they attempt to make the NCAA tourney. Didn’t matter, the Gamecocks dominated from the tip and won easily.
UGA is in a similar spot tonight. They are a bubble team with pressure to win facing a home team that is playing well and stress free right now. The Bulldogs did win @ Texas over the weekend but that was their first SEC road win of the season (2-7 overall on the road this year).
In their first meeting this year Georgia won at home by 11 points hitting 51% of their shots overall and 47% of their triples. That wasn’t surprise as the Gamecocks have been terrible on the road this year but at home they have a winning record of 10-7. In SEC play they topped Texas and Arkansas handily at home and lost tight games vs the SEC’s best. They lost to Auburn by 3, Florida by 1, Miss St in OT, Ole Miss by 4 and Texas A&M by 4. The Cocks are 6-1-1 ATS at home in conference play this season. Georgia is shooting just 38% on the road, while averaging 0.933 PPP and just 64 PPG.
They’re walking into a hornet’s nest here with South Carolina playing well and it’s their final home game of the season. Take the Gamecocks.
