I was impressed with how Sandoval (1-0, 1.80 ERA) competed in the WBC and in his first start. Last season, he won only six games in 27 starts despite a 2.91 ERA, as the Angels' offense averaged 3.3 runs/game in his starts. I am confident Los Angeles will provide him with more run support this season, as it did in his first start (13 runs on 11 hits and 6 walks).

Bassitt was not sharp in his 2023 season debut versus St. Louis, allowing nine runs and ten hits (four HRs) in 3.1 innings. Toronto has won three consecutive, but the Angels will put an end to that in Anaheim Friday night.
