I'm confident the Guardians, 5-1 in their last six interleague games vs. a team with a winning record, will bounce back at home on Friday after dropping three of their past four to Washington and Detroit. After a disappointing first outing, Zach Plesac has allowed four earned runs over his past two outings (12 innings) with a 7:1 K:BB ratio. In his last start, he battled back from a rough first inning, when he surrendered three runs (one earned) due to a throwing error from Jose Ramirez. He'll tame a Fins lineup that's hitting .242 with a .298 OBP, 140 strikeouts, and just 38 walks in 500 ABs vs. right-handers this year.
Miami has won six of its last eight games but now faces an unfamiliar foe in a road interleague series. Friday's starter, lefty Braxton Garrett, has bounced between the majors and Triple-A this season after failing to crack the starting rotation out of the spring. The Guardians haven't been scoring a lot of runs this year but they will fare better against the youngster on Friday, chasing him from the game early enough to attack a Marlins pen that has the sixth-highest ERA in the National League.
