UMass' defense is legit (39th in Success Rate Allowed in 2022) and the Miami-OH offense is mediocre. The Redhawks have an inexperienced offensive line, which puts too much pressure on QB Brett Gabbert and doesn't allow their RBs to get down the field. Miami gained just 51 yards on 25 attempts, averaged 4.4 yards per play, and had only three drives that ended inside Miami (FL)'s 40-yard line. The net result? Three whopping points! The Minutemen return eight defensive starters and are coached by a great defensive mind in HC Don Brown — they'll shut down the Redhawks tomorrow.
The UMass offense will also be tough to watch, as it needs to run the ball effectively to score, which likely won't happen against the Miami front seven (12th in EPA/Rush Allowed last year). They return nine defensive starters and will be ready to get dirty in the trenches tomorrow.
Both of these offenses are slow-paced, but especially the Minutemen. While it won't be the most exciting game, the under should be on your radar as a worthwhile bet at 44.5 and down to 42!
