Kansas City vs. Las Vegas (Raiders +9.5)
(NFL) Kansas City vs. Las Vegas,
Point Spread: 9.50 | -119.00 Las Vegas (Home)
Result: Loss
Point Spread: 9.50 | -119.00 Las Vegas (Home)
Result: Loss
This spread is the longest the Chiefs have had on the road this season, and they failed to cover while traveling as 8.5-point favorites against the Jets and as seven-point favorites vs. the Broncos. While some are likely betting on KC to bounce back after its loss to Philly, I'll take the other side.
Las Vegas was competitive last week as two touchdown dogs against Miami, covering despite being outgained by the Fins' top-ranked offensive attack. Since taking over as head coach, Antonio Pierce has reinvigorated this Raiders squad. Vegas is also 2-1 since Aidan O’Connell reassumed the starting QB role. In short, I expect LV to exceed expectations on both sides of the ball.
The Raiders' defense ranks second in EPA/play and third in success rate since Pierce has taken over and should cause more problems for a struggling Chiefs offense. KC averages just 5.3 points per game in the second half and its receivers can't hold onto the football. The Raiders only allowed the Dolphins into the red zone twice last weekend and held them to 3-for-14 on third down.
Las Vegas' offense is competent enough, and with another solid defensive showing, I feel confident predicting a Raiders cover at +9.5.
