I'm bullish on the Giants to win and cover today, and I'm especially interested in the value of this wager at +140 or better odds.
Blake Snell has quietly put together a fine season since returning from injury (3.56 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 16 starts; and a 2.73 xERA). He's been excellent recently (two or fewer runs in nine of his past 10 starts; 2-0 record with 1.30 ERA) and ranks in the 94th percentile or higher in xBA, average exit velocity, strikeout rate and hard-hit rate. The veteran southpaw is 5-2 with a 1.86 ERA and 73 strikeouts in nine career appearances (53.1 IP) against Arizona, as well.
Merrill Kelly has been unimpressive, pitching to a 4.30 ERA and 6.06 xERA this season. He has allowed four or more runs in three consecutive starts, too. The Giants have hit him well recently (7.71 ERA in his last three matchups vs. SF) and showed some fight in last night's game, battling back with four runs in the seventh and ninth innings.
