The Scarlet Knights love to run the football (4th in rushing yards) and took great care of it (one turnover). They will dominate a weak Hokies front that ranks 78th in line yards and has struggled to stop the run. On the road, I expect RU to keep the ball on the ground to attempt to dominate the time of possession, as well. The Hokies do rank 14th in Defensive Havoc (17 passes defensed, 18 tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries), so don't expect them to go down without a fight, either.

The Hokies' offense will also look to run the football, as Rutgers ranks sixth in Defensive Pass EPA and 13th in coverage, per PFF. They haven't been quite as stout against the run, but if the Scarlet Knights can hold them in check for a good portion of the game, it will be tough sledding for Virginia Tech. The Hokies have struggled to protect the QB and rank dead last nationally in Havoc Allowed on offense, so the Knights could be in the backfield often tomorrow. Rutgers has the third-best opponent red zone scoring percentage (50%) in the country, too.

I expect the game clock to be running almost constantly, as both teams prepare for a battle in the trenches to run the ball. I believe this will work in the under's favor at 44.5 total points!
