Betting Trends: Auburn HC Hugh Freeze is 30-14 ATS (68.2%) as an underdog, covering by 6.5 points per game, including 18-9 ATS (66.7%) against SEC opponents.
I'm backing Auburn to cover as 4.5-point underdogs, as I feel they are being overlooked and Mizzou is getting too much credit.
-Missouri's offense has lacked pop this season, and with star WR Luther Burden dealing with an injury and RB Nate Noel (79 carries for 471 yards) questionable with a back injury, they could be limited on that side of the ball. They are coming back home after traveling to Texas and Massachusetts, while Auburn spent the last week on bye preparing for this game.
-Auburn's offense has looked much better, even though it has faced a much more difficult schedule. Payton Thorne is a solid, experienced QB — he just needs to avoid costly mistakes. Missouri lost a few defensive stars from last year's squad and ranks 82nd in forced turnovers, so he should fare just fine. Hugh Freeze is one of the sport's best offensive minds and believe he has a few tricks up his sleeve for Mizzou after a bye week.
I won't be surprised if Auburn wins this one straight-up, but I'll gladly take the 4.5-point spread as extra insurance!
