The Knicks are off to a poor start and things won't get any easier on the road against Miami.
The Heat are a defensive-minded team (9th in defensive rating), but it's their offense that has impressed me so far this season. Their new offensive scheme has traded out mid-range attempts for more threes (38.3 per game vs. 33.7 last year) and is getting more out of their rim attempts.
New York could be without Josh Hart, which puts additional pressure on Jalen Brunson, who is coming off an inefficient 21 points on 24 shots versus the Cavs. The transition from Julius Randle to Karl Anthony Towns hasn't been great, as Big Purr hasn't been attempting enough shots, and seems like he needs time to build chemistry with his new teammates. New York is also feeling the loss of Isaiah Hartenstein, as it has seen a big drop in rebounding percentage this year (from 45.2% to 40.0%). NY was 5th in that stat last season but is 28th now.
I'm confident the new-look Miami offense will have its way with a Knicks defense that has allowed the second-most points per 100 possessions in non-garbage time this season (124.4). NY is lacking depth (21st in bench scoring) and chemistry right now — bet on Miami to win straight-up!
