PADRES ML (+107) vs CUBS
(MLB) Padres (SDP) vs. Cubs (CHC),
Money Line: 107.00 Padres (SDP) (Away)
Result: Loss
I like the Padres today, as I believe Nick Pivetta will better handle the Cubs' lineup than Matthew Boyd against SD. Pivy lasted seven innings in his debut, facing the minimum batters, while Boyd pitched only five frames, allowing seven base runners. San Diego also has a much more reliable bullpen than Chicago's, especially if Pivetta outlasts Boyd.

The Padres' bats were quiet on Friday, but I expect them to wake back up today after starting the season hot (131 wRC+). San Diego's stars know they have to fight for every win if they hope to have any shot at keeping pace with LA this season. After yesterday's no-show performance at the plate, I trust Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and Jackson Merrill to lead the Fightin' Friars to a victory at Wrigley.
