San Diego hasn't hit lefties at all and that trend continued last night, as the Padres struck out 11 times. They have now lost five straight games dating back to their late meltdown against Colorado in their series finale at Coors Field on April 25. Today, though, they face a familiar face in ex-Padre Nick Martinez (5.48 ERA).

San Diego rakes against righties (.270/.332/.413/.745) and will give Martinez a rude welcome back tonight. The 33-year-old was roughed up in his last start (five runs on 11 hits) and gave up a combined eight runs in his other two starts this season.

The Padres will counter with Yu Darvish. While the 37-year-old can still be a good pitcher, he's been underperforming in 2024, allowing ten runs in his last three starts, one of which lasted only three innings. His command has been a bit out of whack lately (five BBs in his last two starts), as well.

Behind both of these starting pitchers are mediocre bullpens. Cincy ranks 15th in ERA and SD ranks 17th. Both have allowed at least 10 homers, too.

With that said, I feel that the total is too low at 7.5, and will be targeting it for my MLB best bet today!
