The Southsiders might not win much, but they have covered the spread lately, posting a 10-3 run line record in their last 13 games. The Pirates have a 5-8 (38.4%) run line record as road favorites this season and a 9-16 (36.0%) run line record in interleague games. They haven't been consistent recently, either. Pittsburgh thrashed Milwaukee 12-2 and beat New York (N.L.) 8-2 a few games ago but didn't sustain any momentum, scoring one total run in the next two games.
I don't see enough value in a wager on the Pirates at nearly -160 odds to win straight-up, and I'm skeptical the odds should be that high. Luis Ortiz has only made two starts this season and will likely pitch four or five frames. Once he exits, the Pirates' bullpen is unreliable, to say the least (26th in ERA and 27th in WHIP).
I recommend a bet on the White Sox to cover the run line at home on Saturday!
