NFL Best Bet - Steelers vs Colts
(NFL) Steelers (PIT) vs. Colts (IND),
Total: 40.50 | -115.00 Under
Result: Loss
The defense has always been a hallmark of Mike Tomlin’s Steelers teams and this year is no different. They lead the league in scoring defense, allowing just 8.7 ppg. They’re first in total defense, 3rd in rush yards allowed, and 5th in pass yards allowed. If you’re an offensive coordinator looking for a weakness to exploit, good luck.

Of course, their Achilles heel in recent year has been their offense, and this season is no different. Russell Wilson has not seen the field yet and Justin Fields looks a little better than his Chicago days but mainly because they’re asking him to do less. He’s thrown for just 518 yards in three starts mainly because he’s throwing a lot more short, possession passes instead of taking deep shots.

The Colys are having their own offensive struggles, with Anthony Richardson completing less than 50% of his passes and throwing twice as many picks (6) as touchdown passes (3). Jonathan Taylor struggled to get going early in the season but he did have a nice game last week and it is a certainty the Colts will want to feed him the ball as much as possible to keep the pressure of their young QB.

There just doesn’t seem to be much of a path for either of these teams to get to 20. The Steelers will do what they do, play stifling defense, play for field position, and eventually put some points on the board. I doubt this one will become an “Instant Classic,” but it should stay well under the total.
