This Seattle defense has been elite through the first three games of the season. They lead the NFL in opponent yards per play (3.9) and also rank inside the top five in third-down defense, red zone defense, and opponent points per play. But, here’s the deal. So far they have played Bo Nix, Jacoby Brissett, and Skylar Thompson - and they knocked Thompson out of the game.

In addition, they will be without some major pieces of that defense. Three of the seven players listed on the D-line depth chart are not suiting up for this game. Playing a three-man front with only four players is going to be a real problem against this powerful Lions O-line. Detroit is top-seven in the league in both passing and rushing yards. They have a legitimate two-headed monster in the backfield with Montgomery and Gibbs, as well as two legit threats at the wide receiver position in Williams and St Brown.

The Seahawks have some solid offensive pieces and I don’t think the Lions are pitching a shutout but there are just too many holes in the Seattle defense for them to keep up with the Lions in a shootout. Hutchinson will get his sacks and the Seahawks defensive line will be running out of gas in the 2nd half. This may be tight for a while but the Lions take control and get the win and the cover.
