This is a Gamecocks team that struggled early in the season but has dominated C-USA play, going 3-0 SU and ATS while winning by an average of 33 ppg. They have rushed for a staggering 1162 yards (387 ypg) in that stretch. While they may not reach those heights against this Liberty defense, the Flames will have their hands full with dual-threat master Tyler Huff and RB Tre Stewart, who has averaged 6.4 ypc on the season.
Despite being 6-1 on the year, Liberty has played with fire against a slew of inferior opponents and finally got burned last week, losing to previously winless Kennesaw State. They have been overvalued all season and have gone just 1-5 against the number.
Playing in Conference USA, teams are never going to face a murderer’s row of opponents but Jacksonville State has faced much tougher non-con competition, including a ranked Louisville team and Coastal Carolina. This will be the toughest opponent Liberty has faced this year and I believe the Gamecocks running attack will be too much to handle, letting Jax State control the clock and limit the chances for the Flames offense.
