LA Angels vs Atlanta
(MLB) Angels (LAA) vs. Braves (ATL),
Money Line: 118.00 Angels (LAA) (Away)
Result: Loss
Every now and then, we encounter a number that doesn’t make a lot of sense. That doesn’t mean I don’t understand the thought process. The Braves are still thought of as a force in the East, they’re at home, and they’ve got a hard-throwing, strikeout pitcher on the mound against the perennial underachieving LA Angels. But here’s the reality. The Braves have struggled all year, and the Angels have a better record by three games than Atlanta. And while Fuentes has a live arm and may be very good someday, that day isn’t here yet. He just turned 20 years old, and he has struggled this season at every level, except for one good start at AAA. That includes two starts for the Braves where he gave up 10 ERs in 8.1 innings, including three homers. Meanwhile, Kikuchi has been stellar for the last two months, 2.07 1.27, and the Angels are 7-4 in those starts, including 3-1 on the road.
