Even though Mike Soroka has been pitching better lately, the horrific Nats bullpen has let him down. In his last four starts, he has an ERA 4.43 and a WHIP of .92, Washington has given up 35 runs in those games, losing all four. Like Soroka, Giolito got a late start to the season due to injury. As we’ve seen with other pitchers who missed spring training, He got off to a rough start. But over his last four starts, he has given up a total of two runs. He has gone at least six innings in all four starts, and unlike the Nats, the Sox pen has backed him up well, allowing Boston to go 3-1 in that stretch. The Washington offense is average at best and really struggles at home. If we don’t get ‘em early, I think we have a great chance to get ‘em late.
