#601/602 ASA FREE PLAY ON Under 130 Points – Penn State vs Rutgers, Tuesday at 6:30 PM ET - Both of these teams rank outside the top 270 in adjusted tempo so the offensive possessions will be limited. Defensively Rutgers is fantastic. They rank 4th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, 5th in PPG allowed at 57, and 6th in FG% defense allowing opponents to hit only 37% from the field. As good as those numbers are, they get even better when the Scarlet Knights are at home allowing only 53 PPG on 34% shooting. They have allowed only 2 of their 13 opponents at home to reach 60 points. The Knights are coming off a rare poor defensive showing allowing MSU to hit 70 points on 1.11 PPP which is way above what Rutgers allows on the season which is 0.87 PPP. PSU shoots as many 3’s as almost anyone in the country but they are running into a defense that allows only 29% from beyond the arc. The Nittany Lions score very little from the FT line or inside the arc (334th in percentage of points from inside the arc and 362nd in percentage of points from the FT line) so if they aren’t hitting their 3’s the points will be tough to come by. Rutgers is not a great shooting team ranking 294th in eFG% and 12th in FG% in Big 10 play. They are facing a solid PSU defense that allows only 67 PPG this season and ranks 88th in adjusted efficiency. This has been a big time Under series with 9 of the last 10 meetings staying Under the total including 8 in a row. Last year these 2 combined to score 114 and 117 points in their 2 meetings. We’ll go Under again on Tuesday night.
