#676 ASA FREE PLAY ON Villanova -115 over UConn, Wednesday at 6:30 PM ET - The Huskies opened as a favorite in this game and it has since flipped to Nova a small home chalk. So we have a non-ranked Villanova team laying points vs a top 10 team which tells you who you should be on in this game. UConn will be without one of their top players and 2nd leading scorer McNeely and taking a close look, the Huskies have been on a nice run but simply not playing all that well. They’ve won 8 straight games but 4 of their last 5 wins have coming by 6 points or less and they’ve been facing lower tier Big East teams during this stretch. Over their last 4 games the Huskies beat Xavier at home in OT, beat Butler on the road by 4, beat DePaul on the road by 13 and then struggled to get by Providence by 3 points at home over the weekend. Far from dominating vs a group of Big East teams that currently have a 2-15 combined record in league play. They are ripe for a loss and we think this is where it comes. Nova started the season slow but they’ve been playing really well over the last month or so. They have won 7 of their last 8 games with 5 of those wins coming by double digits. The Wildcats match up very well offensively vs this UConn team. The Huskies defensive weaknesses is defending the arc where they rank 334th nationally and they are going to attempt to slow down a Villanova offense that shoots almost 42% from deep which is 2nd in the nation. On top of that, Connecticut fouls a lot with their opponents scoring over 25% of their points from the charity stripe (8th most in the country) and the Wildcats make nearly 79% of the FT’s as a team. Last season, UConn was easily the best team in the country and only able to beat Villanova by 1 on the road. They are nowhere near that caliber this year (ranked 23rd per KenPom) and banged up on top of that. Wildcats win at home tonight.
