#849/850 ASA PLAY ON Under 130.5 Points – Rider vs Merrimack, Sunday at 4 PM ET - We were on the Merrimack Under on Friday night and cashed. We’ll come right bac on Sunday with the Under and much of the reasoning stays the same. Merrimack is very good defensively (72nd nationally in defensive efficiency), poor on offense (286th in offensive efficiency), and play at a very slow pace (310th in adjusted tempo). Rider also plays at a very slow pace (308th) and is a poor offensive team. They rank 328th in offensive FG%, 349th in 3 point FG%, and 349th in scoring. Rider shot lights out on Friday hitting 53% of their shots (11% above their season average) and still only scored 67 points. We don’t think they can duplicate that vs a Merrimack defense that ranks 85th nationally in efficiency and in the top 2 in conference play in eFG% allowed and 3 point FG% allowed. We expect Merrimack to be extra focused on the defensive end after playing poorly on Friday allowing Mount St Mary’s to make over 50% of their shots both inside and outside the arc. Even with that, MSM still only scored 66 points (66-58 final). Rider’s defense is middle of the pack in the MAAC but they played well on Friday holding St Peter’s to 58 points. They should be fine here as well vs a Merrimack offense that ranks 312th in FG% and 355th in scoring. This could easily be a game that doesn’t get out of the 50’s in possessions which will leave limited scoring options. Let’s grab the Under here.
