The desperate Tigers have called up Kyle Ryan (1-0, 3.00 ERA) who picked up a win in relief against Oakland and had one start against the White Sox last August. He will be opposed by the struggling Jose Quintana (2-6, 4.33) who has lost three straight starts and six of his last seven decisions. Quintana could have looked better but the White Sox have scored the second-fewest runs (191) in the majors.
