This is a 2% MLB BEST BET on the OVER Orioles/Rangers.
No need to overthink this one, guys, in my opinion.
These teams played to a high-scoring affair in Game 1 of this series in the Orioles' 10-6 win, and I think that the finale will also feature a "ton of runs!"
And it essentially comes down to the fact that I have zero trust whatsoever in either starting pitcher.
The Orioles are handing the ball to Tomoyuki Sugano, whose 6-4, 4.06 ERA record is deceiving.
Sugano somehow managed a win in his last outing despite getting shelled for seven runs off nine hits and only striking out two over five innings.
He posted a 3.04 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over his first 12 major-league outings, but since then, he's been terrible over his past four outings, posting a ballooned 8.15 ERA and 2.04 WHIP.
And it might seem odd to hear me say that I don't have any trust in Nathan Eovaldi for the Rangers, as he's 4-3 with a 1.87 ERA.
But Eovaldi has been injured, and when he returned for the first time against the Mariners last Friday, he took a no-decision after allowing three runs over three innings while striking out two in what eventually turned out to be a high-scoring 7-6 loss.
It was tied for the most runs he's allowed all season, and he only made 45 pitches.
The bottom line for Eovaldi: it'll take some time for the Rangers' big right-hander to return to his elite form, and because of that, I do not trust him here against this explosive Baltimore lineup.
Considering the current form of these starters, I'm on the OVER in this one.
Good luck, NP
