The Marlins are arguably the hottest team in all of baseball right now, going 9-1 in their last ten, including two of three from Minnesota this week.
But it certainly hasn't been because of their ace Sandy Alcantara, who continues to struggle through the worst season of his career.
Alcantara enters this one 4-8 with a ballooned 6.98 ERA and was lucky to earn a no-decision in his last outing after getting shelled for seven runs off ten hits over six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Poor timing for Alcantara, as coming into this season, he was rumoured to be on the trading block, and this poor first-half performance couldn't have come at a worse time for him.
Milwaukee counters with the betting "in form" starter, and I think Quinn Priester (6-2, 3.35 ERA) will indeed be the difference-maker in this contest for the Brewers.
Priester is coming off perhaps his best outing of his career, going seven scoreless against the Rockies, striking out 11.
Priester enters this game red-hot and ready to cool off the Marlins, as he posted a 1.98 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 27.1 June innings of work.
I think that June momentum carries over into July for Priester.
Considering these guys' recent form, I think we're getting fantastic line value on MILWAUKEE on Friday night.
