Two weeks ago I gave you a free play on the Jags, last week a free play on the Pack and both were winners of the "rocking chair" variety. I come into Wk. 17 of the NFL sitting at 79-58 +$9,120 w/ ALL premium selections (incl. Preseason), and for a number of different reasons, I feel the home side offers tremendous value in this spot.

With neither team heading to the postseason, we have to look a little closer at the overall "situation" to try uncover some edges that we can take advantage of. Recent performance is always a factor that I take into consideration when handicapping and I think it's a signifcant one here. The Bears had a chance to play spoiler vs. the Lions last week but once again came up short with their effort, a 20-14 setback marked the team's fourth straight loss. Chicago has nothing to play for except a better position in the draft. Minnesota won't be playing in the postseason either, but I think it will in fact look to come out and end the season with a convincing effort in front of the home town crowd. From a situational stand point, this is a very strong play. After two straight victories, the Vikes have dropped two tough ones, a 16-14 setback to the Lions, before coming up short in a 37-35 loss in Miami last week. The Vikes have been extremely competitive over the last month and I don't see any reason to think that play won't be carried over here. And then when you throw in the "revenge" factor after the Vikes lost 21-13 in Chicago in early November, there's no doubt that this investment opportunity gets even stronger. And then finally throw in the fact that Chicago is a poor 3-4 ATS on the road this year and already 1-2 ATS off a loss vs. a division rival, while Minnesota is 5-2 ATS in front of the home town crowd this season and 4-0 ATS after two or more consecutive SU losses, then I think you'll agree with me that the the VIKINGS are definitely worth a second look in this spot.
